This month is a very special and exclusive Dream Wardrobe. We have sent you a copy of Fabric Godmother’s first ever sewing pattern before anybody else can get their hands on it…   For everybody else, the pattern launch date is 29th June.

About the fabric:

The Painted Gingham Linen & Viscose is exclusive to Fabric Godmother. Designed especially for us. It was hand painted in watercolours before being digitally printed on to our favourite summer base cloth.

How to use up your scraps…

Use any leftovers to make a cute little cross body bag to match your new dress. Perfect to pop your phone and lipstick in.

About the pattern:

The Peony Dress is the dress you have been missing from your wardrobe. Made in a silk or pretty viscose crepe, it’s the perfect special occasion dress. Or made in a linen or babycord, you can dress it down for daytime. The Peony Dress also features a fantastic couture technique to add shoulder puffs to your dress.

Notions required:

  • Matching thread (we have sent you a reel of Gutermann rPET thread)
  • Interfacing or net for shoulder puffs (optional)
  • 25cm (10”) Iron on interfacing
  • 56cm (22”) Concealed zip

The Peony dress would also be great in the following fabrics:

Fabrics with a bit of drape, such as viscose, crepe, silk and cotton lawn will give a floaty silhouette. You can also use a fabric with more body such as a mid to lightweight denim, cord or cotton poplin, which will make it a more structured dress. For the shoulder puffs you can use the main dress fabric, or if you want a more dramatic puff, use a double layer of your fabric or add a layer of interfacing into your shoulder puff. If you are using a thick fabric you may want to use a lighter weight fabric for the puffs as you may find it hard to gather.

About your gift:

Tailor's chalk cartridge pen set by Prym. Very handy tailor's chalk pen, allows for more accurate marking than many traditional chalks and is quick & easy to work with.
