Aurea is a button-down sleeveless shirtdress with dropped shoulders and a double-layered back yoke. It features a pointed shirt collar with collar stand, centre front button placket with button and buttonhole closure, side bust darts, front patch pockets with pocket flaps. The armholes are finished with self topstitched bias binding on the inside.
Aurea has a midi-length skirt with side inseam pockets, side slits and a curved hem. There is a waist seam on the skirt with two side pleats on the front and two on the back. The back has a yoke seam and two waist darts on the bodice.
The waist is cinched in by a tie belt.
Fabric Recommendations:
Main fabric: Aurea was designed for mid-weight woven fabrics with little to no stretch. Fabrics like linen, cotton shirtings such us poplin, chambray, Oxfords, sturdy linen with viscose blends.
Avoid sewing this pattern with very slippery and shifty fabrics, as sewing the front patch pockets will be more challenging. It is recommended to stick to shirting materials that can be easily pressed.
Interfacing: lightweight woven fusible interfacing or lightweight knit interfacing with low stretch.
