The Eaton Dress & Blouse is the perfect combination of a structured yet comfortable garment. The forward shoulder seam has gentle gathers that flow into a long dress that lands mid-calf, or a blouse that ends above the hip. The side seams are sewn with French seams that end in topstitched vents. The fitted neckline features a collar stand & the dress neckline is topped with a rounded club collar. At the upper back is a lined yoke. The dress & blouse back is gathered into the bottom edge of the yoke, & at the center back is an optional hang loop.
The blouse view has a longer shoulder for a slight cap/sleeveless look that is finished with bias binding. The dress view has long sleeves, with cuffs & a tower placket. At the center front is a folded back facing, closed with buttons. The only exposed seams on the interior are the armholes on the dress. The rest are fully enclosed.
All the elements are mix & match, so you can add & subtract the sleeves, collar, & collar stand as desired. Note: the yardage requirements may change if choosing a custom view. Also note: the sash belt worn by the model is an optional add on. If choosing to sew a sash belt, additional yardage may be required.
DIFFICULTY: Intermediate
NOTIONS: Thread, View A: eighteen 3/8 - 1/2” buttons. View B: eight 3/8” - 1/2” buttons.
SUGGESTED FABRICS: Light & medium weight woven fabrics, like cotton lawn, poplin, chambray, linen & cotton blends, cotton shirting, & similar fabrics. Fabrics with drape, like silk, rayon, & cupro can also be used, though we recommend choosing an option that does not have a heavy drape.
