Description

Nothing says summer elegance quite as well as a dramatic caftan. Get Caftan Body ready with Charlie, a fresh take on this warm weather staple.

All versions feature a deep V neckline, grown-on sleeves, inset center panel and roomy pockets. View A is modern and architectural with striking pleats beneath the bust. For a softer, more romantic dress, Views B & C feature a gently gathered bodice with an optional waist tie for a figure skimming silhouette in two skirt lengths. You may also choose between a dramatically wide, deep sleeve, or one slightly higher cut for more coverage.

    I gave four stars as I have yet to make this kaftan, but it does look promising as it is long, loose, a bit of shoulder cover with a flattering V neck

    I am an 'enthusiastic beginner' and found this pattern mostly achievable but the bust panel was a nightmare. I unpicked it a few times, watched a youtube video then fudged it so I could finish the dress. I made the short version with the pleats rather than the gathered front. I did the front in one piece rather than having a join from the bust to hem, I used zigzag batik fabric and didn't want unnecessary joins. It's not the most flattering item I've made, however, it's perfect for hot weather. It's cool, comfortable, has great pockets and I will wear it as no one else would be able to see my dodgy sewing. I'll persevere and make another, hopefully practice makes perfect.

    Useful easy to wear summer style in pattern or plain fabric
