ABOUT THE DRESS:

The Fleur dress & blouse is a pretty and versatile pattern. The playful bow ties and gathered peplum add an element of fun to this garment. Plus, a secret placket stops you showing more than you might want to between the bows! Made in a lightweight cotton or linen this is the perfect summer dress or blouse. You can also use a heavier weight fabric and wear the sleeveless version as a pinafore dress in cooler weather.

SEWING LEVEL: Advance beginner

The Fleur dress & blouse features a bias finished neckline and optional sleeves. The tie front top means no fiddly zips or buttonholes.

RECOMMENDED FABRICS

Fabrics with a bit of body such as cotton poplin, linen and lightweight denim will give this garment the structure needed to show off the bows and peplum. For a fancy version, use a sparkly brocade or use a denim or cord to make a winter version.

HOW THE DRESS FITS

The Fleur is a loose fitting dress and blouse. The waist seam sits just above your natural waist and the skirt falls loosely, stopping at low calf length. The placket is designed to stop you showing more than you might want to at the centre front. We have included 2 cup sizes – a B cup and D cup, please see the 'what size should you make?' section on page 4 to see which is the right cup size for you. We have also included 2 bodice shapes – one for the version with sleeves and one for the version without. The version with sleeves only has darts in the D cup. The sleeveless version has a side bust dart in both the B and D cup to give it a better fit.

YOU WILL NEED

    Fabulous pattern

Posted by sarah slater on 1st Jul 2024

It is not often that I buy and make a pattern so soon after its release but I absolutely love how this turned out. Instructions were easy to follow, sizing came up as measured and how I expected the fit to be. I liked the reminders about things that you should know but when I’m the zone often forget- like remembering to reset your stitch length after gathering.
I’ll definitely be adding more Fleurs to my wardrobe

    Fleur dress and top pattern.

What a delight making up the top.I measured myself and followed the pattern guidelines I ignored what size I am and went with the pattern. The only alteration I made was to the sleeve and shortened it by two inch.Straight forward instructions which I got by scanning the Q R code. I can see me using this pattern a lot more.

    Lovely, fun and simple sew!

I really loved making this pattern! It's my first-ever Fabric Godmother pattern so I wasn't sure what to expect but the instructions were fantastic and easy/clear to understand and everything came together very easily. I really appreciated the special details like the packet and the anchored, spacious pockets. It's a fabulous dress to wear and I'm looking forward to making the top version. The only thing I would recommend to the designer is to add the sizing throughout the pattern cutting lines because that makes life so much easier.

Loved this pattern as soon as I saw it. I have just cut it out in your beautiful blue linen gingham. I am going for the short version with the peplum and ties. All looks good so far. I sure the pattern is great just whether it suits an old bird like me!

    Fabric Godmother Fleur Blouse

Based on finished measurements, I made a size 12 blouse and it fit perfectly. The placket under the bows looks very neat and is a finishing touch. Instructions were easy to follow with both pictures and written instructions. Also found a YouTube video of this blouse/dress.

I absolutely love this pattern! I've made two of the sleeved top so far, varying the length of the peplum to wear with different bottoms and I'm planning my next!
