The Lucien Henley is a timeless piece that is sure to become a trans seasonal staple. The pattern includes three style options,
namely Style A, which has a more fitted silhouette with set-in short sleeves, and Style B and Style C which both have a more relaxed cut and slightly dropped shoulders, offering both short and long sleeved variations respectively. With the placket and neck binding being adaptable to both knit and woven fabrics, this pattern provides ample opportunities for both creativity and scrap-busting.
RECOMMENDED FABRICS:
Light to medium weight Cotton Spandex knit fabric with a minimum stretch of 20% .
Style C could also be made in a medium weight sweat shirting or Ponte de Roma fabric. The cuffs for Style C can be made from the main fabric or from matching ribbing. Light weight viscose knit fabric is not recommended for this T-shirt design.
The placket can be made with any light to medium weight woven remnant of fabric that coordinates with your main T-shirt fabric. The neck binding, if cut on the bias, can also be made out of the same woven fabric as the placket. Alternatively both could be cut from a contrast knit fabric or a ribbing but it is essential that any knit fabric used has good recovery (returns to original size after stretching). If using knit, ribbing or very delicate/thin woven fabric for the placket it is recommended that you interfaced it with light weight interfacing to stabilize the stretch.
