The French Poetry Lune dress is quite an easy maxi dress pattern: the only difficulties are the insertion of an invisible zipper (there are many video tutorials on the web to explain this step) and making gathers on the bust. The Lune dress fits all body shapes thanks to its fitted empire waist with an inverted V cut: it flows along your curves without creating any bulk and prevents that dreaded fake tummy look! The long flared skirt and V neckline define your figure, while the detachable shoulder bows add a cute touch whenever you like. Casual or elegant, for a walk by the beach or a chic cocktail, choose your version of Lune: play on the prints and textures, mix a satin with a matte crepe, or a bold print with a classy plain fabric. Also good to know, the V back is bra-compatible!

New: The Lune dress now has long and short sleeve options, as well as a shorter length available! Make it your favorite Fall maxi dress with the long sleeve option.

Available sizes:

2 to 16

2/5 – not difficult. What you need to know: making gathers, inserting an invisible zipper and sewing a narrow hem: video tutorials available here.

Fabric choice:

All flowy fabrics: silk, viscose, polyester, crepe, twill, satin… Length: with 60’’ (150cm) wide fabrics, you will need 3.3 yards (3 meters). with 44’’ – 45’’ (115cm) fabrics, you will need 3.7 yards (3.4 meters).

You will need:

1.10 yard (1m) of 44’’ – 45’’ (115cm) wide lining (or you can use the same fabric as your dress if you have enough of it. That would be a good choice for this flowy fabric as it will ensure a good drape on the bust gathers). A 40cm invisible zipper, matching thread for your fabric, scissors, pins, a marking pen, a machine needle that fits your fabric type. You will also need some strips of interfacing or organza to stabilize seams that are on the bias, to prevent any stretching (or you can buy iron-on stabilizing tape).
