everyday top that can be worn with practically anything. Because of its boxy silhouette, the Donny is comfortable but still cool. Pair it with jeans or a skirt, layer it over or under a dress - the sky’s the limit!

Fabric Recommendations

The Donny Shirt is designed for woven fabrics. Any sort of light to medium weight woven is suitable. If you choose a fabric like a mid-weight twill or denim you will get a more structured top. If you choose a drapier fabric like a rayon challis or silk, you will get a blousier top.

The Donny Shirt has a boxy fit without being oversized. There is no shaping through the waist and hips. It is slightly cropped and the hem is meant to fall above your hips. If you lengthen the top so that it falls below your hip line, make sure it will fit around your full hip measurement.

The Donny Top was drafted using sample measurements for a B bra cup and for a height of 5’6”[168cm].

We recommend choosing a size based on your full chest measurement.

The excellent Donny

It's true, it's a fab shirt pattern. I was expecting to find the collar bit trickier than it actually was from the other reviews. I am only a relatively new sewer, and not an old hand at these things. It was fine, as was the burrito method for the yoke. Excellent instructions and pictures. I did translate 'use lots of pins' as 'baste', which was way easier. It advised to finish the edges of your central seam before you sew them together but I did it afterwards so I didn't muck up my pattern matching. French seamed all the others. Couldn't recommend this pattern enough.

Fabric Godmother has a perfectly curated list of patterns, and the Friday Pattern Company is no exception. With fun, easy sews and online tutorials, there is nothing lacking when you purchase a Friday pattern. This Donny shirt was a breeze to sew and looks amazing. It is quite oversized however. Next time I would size down at least one size. Should have had a better look at the ease before getting started.
