Skill level – intermediate.

Suitable fabrics:

3-6oz linen, cotton poplin, cotton lawn, cotton double gauze, cotton chambray, Tencel, hemp/cotton blends. Do not choose anything too heavy, as the back is lower than the front it will pull down making it uncomfortable at the neck!

0.3M/1/2YD lightweight interfacing.

    Love this throw on shirt

Posted by Michelle Dent on 11th May 2026

I made this just before going on Mercedes trouser making course. I am 6ft tall and a size 12 top and 18 bottom with arms that let’s just say are in keeping with my height. I lengthened the arms quite considerable and fiddled with the width around the forearms. Somehow in the making I always convince myself that I’m rubbish at sewing because I always end up altering patterns so much. But now after going on a trouser pattern making course, I’m celebrating that I have the skill to do so.
I found the pattern easy to follow and the instructions clear, which made altering it it so much easier! Highly recommend this pattern
