With Autumn well and truly here, we wanted to add something to your wardrobe that you can wear now, through winter and well into Spring and Summer. What is more versatile than a classic pair of jeans? We’ve added this for you, but with a twist: it comes in a fashionable, flattering shape with an on-trend printed denim.
About the fabric:
This month, we have sourced an incredible Benson 10oz denim.
A stunning animal print laser denim dressmaking fabric. This fabric is an unwashed raw laser denim which requires you to wash it to reveal a new colour of this animal print.
Laser denim is a technical process where a design is lasered onto the denim, revealing a lighter colour.
In the photos, you can see the lighter raw denim, which turns after one wash into a deep indigo blue. See below:
This dress fabric is a 10-oz medium-weight denim, with a cool hand feel and some structure.

With this denim, the colour naturally changes as you wear and wash it. For prewashing, we recommend you use one of the colour catcher sheets included in the Dream Wardrobe box. The colour will develop and change, so please be aware when washing the finished jeans.
As with most fabrics, we recommend prewashing to remove any dressing and allowing for pre-shrinking. A cool wash will be fine; just ensure the temperature you use for prewashing is the same as the temperature at which you plan to wash the final garment. You don’t want your final garment to shrink.

About the pattern:
The Emporia Roan trousers pattern is a barrel leg trouser pattern, which is designed to have a loose and comfy fit for a cool and casual feel. They have a medium-rise waist, deep cutaway front pockets, a classic V back yoke, and angled five side pockets at the rear. Top stitching detail on the seams and a fly zip add jeans style detail, but without the faff of making actual jeans.
Notions:
- 15cm zip
- Matching thread (included)
- 30cm interfacing
- Enough 25mm wide elastic for your back waist
- Buttons or hooks, and bars for your front closure

This is absolutely perfect for doing small-scale cutting jobs without having to get out a full-size mat; you can even do it at your sewing table. This is great for cutting buttonholes, which you may choose to do this option on the Roan trousers.
