Dec 2025

Welcome to your Dec 2025 Dream Wardrobe.

UK SIZES 6-30

In the run-up to Christmas, we all start to slow down, but are equally very busy, so finding time to sew can feel like a luxury. We wanted to include a quick, cosy project that is both smart and stylish. A perfect layering piece that can add warmth or an elegant touch to a Christmas dress. The ideal piece to wear throughout the Christmas holidays and then to work!

About the fabric:

This month, we have sourced beautiful, rescued, deadstock wool in several neutral colourways. As this is a deadstock fabric, you could receive any colour. A gorgeous chunky wool cable knit dressmaking fabric made from waste and rescued yarns from high-end Italian factories.

This incredible chunky cable knit dress fabric has a warm, cosy handfeel and is just perfect for jumpers and cardigans.

This is 100% wool, so we recommend hand-washing only.

The Eva Recycled wool would also work for these patterns:

Tessuti Monroe Turtleneck

Birgitta Helmersson Zero Waste Jumper

Tessuti Amara Vest

About the pattern:

Sleeveless beauty: the debardeur is also unmissable this autumn. With Hoda, we make an original version of it. The eye-catchers are the ribbons that can be left hanging loosely or playfully tied. Another surprise: the back section of this round-neck spencer is longer than the front section. Combine Hoda with a loose blouse underneath for a striking look.

Your Hoda instructions are here

Notions:

  • Matching Thread (included)
  • Grosgrain ribbon (included)
  • Interfacing (max 10cm)

The Hoda Top would also look great in:

Knitted fabrics are, of course, particularly suitable for this tank top, but this pattern also works well with woven fabrics. A stylish jacquard or a fabric with an interesting structure/texture will undoubtedly give a very nice result.

Emme Stripe Knitted Wool - Grey

Viscose Ponte Roma Jersey - Red

Angela Sherpa Fleece - Grey & Pink

About your gift:

Sometimes it's essential to know how much stretch a fabric has. The pattern may tell you to work with a particular stretch percentage, or, if you're using two stretch fabrics together, it's likely easier if they have the same degree of elasticity.

Here's ruler you can pop in a pocket when you're going fabric shopping. Simply hold the fabric at one end and pull from the end of the "Unstretched Fabric" guide. How far you make it along the other leg of the ruler tells you what percentage of stretch you're working with.

Josie’s sewing notes

  • When we made our samples, we made a couple of adjustments. (And some we wished we had changed!)
  • The grosgrain ribbon we’ve included (because who has time to pop to the shops over Xmas?) is slightly narrower than the pattern recommends. We chose this because we felt it gave the garment a slicker, smoother finish. You will need to adjust your stitching slightly, but I’m sure you will love the result.
  • I recommend lowering the side ties by approximately 5-8cm. Pin and test the position first. But I think they would have sat more comfortably a touch lower than the pattern suggests.
  • When sewing the ties, I found it easier to use a hump jumper; increasing the stitch length also helps.
  • Do not line up the raw end of the tie with the edge of the top; actually, make the tie a bit longer than the trim seam allowance once cut to help hold it in place while being sewn.
  • Stitch, I used a zig-zag throughout.
  • I hand slipped-stitched all along the length of the grosgrain ribbon to hold it in place. It takes a little bit longer than just a few places, but it stops it from turning out when being worn.
  • I added a row of top stitching using a narrow zig-zag around the neck to hold the seam allowances down and give a more polished finish.
