    Classic shirt pattern

Posted by Mrs Vivienne Randall on 15th Nov 2021

I have been living in my Seamwork Willis sleeveless shirts all summer and wanted a similar shirt with long sleeves for cooler weather and the Classic shirt seemed to fit the bill.
I first made up a toile and went for a size smaller. I also shorten the length by 2 inches and recut the bottom to my beloved Willis shirt tails. Omitted the pockets as not a fan.
In all my many years of sewing have never sewn a shirt sleeve placket before and have to say I struggled as totally useless at following instructions! The video sew along came in usefull! The instructions were different to what I am used too but with a bit of persevering, cracked on. Have never come across a collar and cuff facing that is smaller then the top before, but it worked.
No fitting needed as it fitted like a glove for once. A very feminine shape.
As I struggled with this pattern as it is very time consuming I doubt I would make it again but who knows!

Enjoyed using this pattern, successfully following the clear instructions to insert collar and cuffs for the first time and found the resulting shirt an excellent fit too!

First indie pattern I have used and I am more a confident beginner than an intermediate sewer, that said, I was amazed at the quality of the pattern and the instructions, far better than the big companies. It has taken me three days so far but another day and I should have it done; nothing wrong with the pattern, just my inexperience; most difficult thing I have tackled to date but very much worth it. Also brilliant, also has pieces up to a D cup so no fba, always a bonus!!! Would recommend.
