The Dolores Drop-Waist Dress is a modern take on the drop-waist silhouette, combining the comfort of knits with the versatility of wovens. Choose between a summer-friendly vest top with bound edges, or a classic boat-neck bodice cleanly finished with a facing and featuring three-quarter length sleeves.
The close-fitting bodice is sewn in a knit fabric whilst the gathered A-line skirt, complete with side-seam pockets, is sewn in a woven, allowing for mix-and-match creativity or chic coordination.
Suitable fabric
For the bodice: medium-weight knits with at least 25% stretch and good recovery such as cotton jersey – nothing too light or drapey.
For the skirt: lightweight fabrics such as cotton lawn, poplin, lightweight viscose-linen blends, rayon.
Notions
A length of 10–12mm / 1/2-inch elastic slightly longer than your hip measurement.
Optional: 25 cm / 9 inches of 5–8mm / 1/4–3/8-inch wide clear elastic, ribbon or stay tape to stabilise the bodice shoulders.
You will also need machine needles for sewing both knit and woven fabrics.
