The Great British Sewing Bee - Series 9 Episode 2

Posted by Phoebe on 2nd Jun 2023

It's time the Fabric Godmother round up of Week 2 of the Great British Sewing Bee! This week the theme was travel and contestants made travel rucksacks for the pattern challenge, re-purposed wind-breakers for the transformation, and creating show-stopping swimsuits for the final challenge.

Whilst we don't have any rucksack or backpack patterns online at the moment, we have several bag patterns that would be perfect for taking away with you - whether that's a mini-break or a longer holiday! I've added a couple of our favourites below. The Thread Theory Qualicum bag has a zip closure and lots of external and internal pockets - perfect for taking on a plane or packing everything you need for a quick city-trip. We also love the Dress Your Body Moonshine Belt Bag, which is perfect for keeping all of your valuables safe and close to you when out and about! Both of these bags require minimal fixtures and fittings and are the perfect intro to bag making!

We absolutely loved seeing everyone's swimsuits this week and we have some great patterns and fabric online which would be perfect for re-creating some of these looks.

At Fabric Godmother we have a range of printed and plain swim fabrics, swimwear patterns and swimwear elastic on the website. I've rounded up a selection of our favourites below!
